ExGMan
When I first became a member, I recall seeing an item on the board regarding various ways of modifying kayaks for safer paddling, and I think it was written by Brian Nystrom. I think the tips included items like putting wooden balls on perimeter lines to get them off the deck, and putting a small line on a skeg so that it could be deployed if jammed. I've run the search function, and must not be asking for the right thing as I get too much information, and not what I'm after. If anyone could point me toward Brian's article, or other such articles, I'd be appreciative.John Gamel

Brian Nystrom
...but I've never taken any pics of the skeg with the string on it. It's no big deal, just drill a 1/8" (aprox) in the skeg, thread some cord through and tie the ends into an overhand knot. The knot makes the cord easier to grab.If you have any other questions, just post 'em.
